Beyond Orthodox Semigroups
We introduce the notions of a generalised category and of an inductive generalised category over a band. Our purpose is to describe a class of semigroups which we name weakly B-orthodox. In doing so we produce a new approach to characterising orthodox semigroups, by using inductive generalised groupoids. Here B denotes a band of idempotents; we note that if B is a semilattice then a weakly B-or...
متن کاملRegular Semigroups with a S 0 − Orthodox Transversal
In this paper, we consider another generalization for quasi-ideal orthodox transversal, the so-called S0-orthodox transversals. We give a structure theorem for regular semigroups with S0-orthodox transversals. If S0 is a S0-orthodox transversal of S then S can be described in terms of S0. متن کاملPseudovariety joins involving J -trivial semigroups and completely regular semigroups
J. Rhodes asked during the Chico conference in 1986 for the calculation of joins of semigroup pseudovarieties. This paper proves that the join J∨V of the pseudovariety J of J -trivial semigroups and of any 2-strongly decidable pseudovariety V of completely regular semigroups is decidable. This problem was proposed by the first author for V = G, the pseudovariety of finite groups.
متن کامل9. Post-orthodox econometrics
Presenting a paper to any conference with the name ‘Keynes’ in the title, particularly to one sponsored by the Post Keynesian Study Group, is fraught with danger. For the exegitical debate about ‘what Keynes really meant’ is often carried out with as much fervour as the arguments between the Fathers of the early Church. Indeed, some of the latter material has a familiar sound. Origen, for examp...
متن کاملExercises in orthodox geometry
Here is a collection of interesting problems in geometry. Solution of each problem requires only one non-trivial idea. The project is oriented to graduate students who want to learn fast simple tricks in geometry. For problem solvers. Easy problems are marked by “◦” and hard problems by “∗”. If the solution requires knowledge of some not quite standard theorem it is marked by “+”, in this case ...
